Wayfarers Chapel- Watercolor

9 in x 12 in, Watercolor & Ink

This is a watercolor of Lloyd Wrights gorgeous architecture in Palos Verdes, California.
I was inspired to paint this as a Christmas present for my Godparents-
they were married at the Wayfarers chapel 50 years ago.

here are some some progress photos. It was love at first sight. I have never visited, but the more I worked with the image, the more I fell in love with the architecture. Originally I was just going to ink it as a line drawing for them because I thought it would look pretty awesome with all of the beautiful lines that the building has, (and because I've been so busy with many other art projects for the holidays), but without the color, the trees seemed to be lost and it didn't seem to fit its nickname of the "chapel of trees", so I decided to spend a few extra days painting it with watercolors and love the way it turned out.

Disneyland Castle

I've been busy with several projects now that the holidays are coming up. Still teaching myself how to sew, but also working on some art pieces. Im currently facing a big delima-  to make it colorful with watercolors, or to have it as a classic bold inky statement. Alas, I'll probably be forced to do another version of it so that I can explore both possibilities, *sigh*. Wish I had more time to work on pieces like this that are for myself instead of all the Christmas gifts that I'm making for friends.

S + J ' s La Jolla wedding

I had a lot of fun taking some photos of this wedding I helped coordinate with I Do Weddings & Events.

First of all: Look at how happy this little flower girl is!! Too cute!

And look at all the other wedding details, with beautiful handwritten notes/signs!

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE The details of her dress-

and their joy when they were dancing for the first time as Mr. & Mrs.!

J & R

Sneak Peak at J&R's Wedding
(had a couple of photos on my phone, but more to come once I get them off of my camera).

Favorite detail:

how they used the wine bottle corks for the placeholders.

When Cultures Combine

Afghan desserts (BAKLAVA!! Totally obsessed!) and Brazilian Dancers-

I love it when weddings bring cultures together, such a beautiful combination!

I also love the idea of
unassigned seating!

The Bride & Groom still wanted their immediate families to be seated near,
so they reserved tables for them to avoid any problems.

wedding season begins

Now that wedding season is in full force, I will be very busy- but I am totally excited! Last weekend I was a part of this gorgeous wedding in Rancho Bernardo. Even though it rained (which it rarely does during this time of year in San Diego), everything still turned out beautiful. Best of luck to K & M!
